Mocobizscene- The Newark Department of Public Safety is seeking the help of the public to identify a male suspect who has been involved in several crimes in the East Ward. Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé has stated that this individual is connected to two armed business robberies and an auto burglary that took place on Wednesday, February 21.
Around 1:55 p.m., a store on the 100 block of Elm Street experienced the first incident. During this incident, the suspect displayed a handgun in his waistband and successfully robbed $50.00 from a customer. Prior to this, at 1:47 p.m., the same suspect entered another store located on the 200 block of Adams Street. In this instance, the suspect ordered food, consumed it, and then proceeded to jump over the counter after displaying a handgun. The suspect managed to steal $100.00 from the cash register.
On the same day, the suspect allegedly stole a wallet from a vehicle at the intersection of William and Halsey streets. According to reports, the suspect is described as a Black male wearing a black jacket, a black hooded sweatshirt with white lettering, black pants, black boots, and a black ski mask. He was also seen wearing a white and black frilly knitted hat. The suspect is known to frequent the areas around Broad Street, Market Street, West Kinney Street, and Nevada Street.
