New Orleans police arrest a hit-and-run motorist with a pedestrian hanging out of the window

Mocobizscene-Following a deadly hit-and-run accident in the 7th Ward on Mardi Gras morning, one man is dead and another is in jail. At 12:08 a.m. on Tuesday, authorities say Jeremy Lindsey, 21, struck a man with his car near Elysian Fields and North Claiborne avenues. He was then charged with vehicular homicide and hit-and-run.

Police stopped Lindsey between South Derbigny and Cleveland streets because they saw a guy staring out of the passenger door of his car as he drove west on North Claiborne Avenue, according to documents they filed in Criminal District Court.

Lindsey struck the man as he was crossing the Interstate 10 ramp at South Claiborne Avenue, according to police cameras in the vicinity. The man was thrown through the glass of his maroon Honda Accord and smacked by the car’s passenger seat.

After giving a blood alcohol test that was 0.083% over the permissible limit and admitting to hitting the man, Lindsey was taken into custody at the Orleans Parish Justice Center by the authorities.
