Police said Monday that a musician living in Philadelphia was fatally stabbed over the Thanksgiving weekend. The victim, a former resident of Passaic County, was identified as the victim in this tragic incident.
C.J. Mueller, whose real name was Carl James Mueller III, tragically passed away at the age of 29 due to a fatal stab wound to his chest. The Philadelphia Police Department confirmed this heartbreaking news.
According to the police, Mueller, a Clifton High School graduate, was reported missing the day before. Mueller was discovered by the police in an unresponsive state at 3:14 a.m. on the day after Thanksgiving on Snyder Avenue. Tragically, medics soon pronounced him dead.
Mueller’s cause of death was confirmed as a result of a stabbing, according to the autopsy. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time.
Mueller, a talented songwriter, guitarist, and singer, was born and raised in Clifton. His musical journey began when he made his debut at a talent show in Clifton High School. Following that, he went on to perform regularly in various locations including North Jersey, the Jersey Shore, and Philadelphia, as confirmed by his family in an obituary.
According to the obituary, Mueller was a member of several bands throughout his life, including Joy Ride, The Angry Pirates, Coming in Clutch, and his family’s band, The Flying Mueller Brothers.
According to his obituary, he will be remembered and greatly missed for his warm smile, constant sense of humor, passion for music, love for skateboarding, never-ending craving for sushi, and his amazing head of hair – the best in the family.
On May 29, Mueller took to Facebook to share an update about his band. He revealed that he had decided to change the name from Joy Ride to Coming in Clutch. Additionally, Mueller mentioned that he was currently collaborating with other talented musicians in order to find a permanent bassist and further develop the group.
According to his social media posts, Mueller celebrated his birthday on November 18th with a performance at Jimmy’s Restaurant & Lounge in Kearny. Prior to that, on November 10th, Coming in Clutch performed at the Bitter End on Bleecker Street in Manhattan.
“I’ve been exploring different cities, trying to decide where I want to start the next phase of my life and launch this new venture,” Mueller shared.
“After spending some time in Philadelphia, he came to the realization that it wasn’t the right fit for him,” he expressed. “Don’t misunderstand me, I have a deep love for The Eagles and all that, but my heart will forever belong to North Jersey and the vibrant community there. It will always be my true home.”
