Maryland Dentist Gets 45 Years For Girlfriend’s Overdose Death

Mocobizscene-For the overdose death of his fiancée in 2022, an oral surgeon in Montgomery County, Maryland, was found guilty and given 45 years in jail, with credit for time served.

Sarah Harris died in their Clarksburg home last summer, and Dr. James Michael Ryan was found guilty of second-degree depraved heart murder and involuntary manslaughter. Prosecutors said that Ryan, then 50, had given Harris potent pharmaceuticals from his business when she was 25 years old. Harris passed away from ketamine, propofol, and diazepam overdose.

John McCarthy, the state attorney for Montgomery County, previously stated, “These drugs were drugs that were used uniquely and exclusively in operating rooms, with the exception of one.”

The maximum term was fifty-five years.

Prosecutors claimed that emails and texts revealed Ryan had been giving Harris the pills. They said that a single message indicated that Ryan gave her the medication while she was fast asleep. “Should you awaken… I gave you ketamine, and now I went [to] change. Right now,” it stated.
The lead detective was shown the communications that Harris’s sister had discovered on her sister’s phone.

At that point, according to Rachel Harris, “he began working on his investigation into Dr. James Ryan and what he was doing to my sister behind closed doors.”

According to Harris’ family, she was multilingual, participated in beauty pageants, and had aspirations of joining the Peace Corps to aid people all over the world.

Sarah was “the shining star to all of our lives,” according to Mark Harris, Sarah’s father. “She was a loving, devoted granddaughter, aunt, friend, and sister.”
