Man arrested in Florida in connection with Van Wert homicide

According to Van Wert Police Chief Doug Weigle, the suspect in the death of Roy Watts, a Van Wert resident who passed away on September 30th, has been located by the U.S. Marshal Service.

According to a statement released by Weigle on Wednesday, Larry Andrus Jr. was taken into custody at a bus station in Dade County, Florida, and is expected to be transferred to the Van Wert County jail soon.

According to reports, 54-year-old Watts was found dead at his residence on South Vine Street in Van Wert. Authorities initially labeled the death as “suspicious,” but a subsequent autopsy conducted by the Lucas County Coroner’s Office concluded that Watts had been the victim of a homicide.

Police investigation suggests that Andrus, aged 48, may have played a role in the death of Watts. Recently, a grand jury has charged the Van Wert resident with multiple charges including murder, voluntary manslaughter, involuntary manslaughter, strangulation and felonious assault.
