The arrest of a Bronx man for arson on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 5:18 am has been reported by the Arson Bomb Squad. Detectives said that Fifth Precinct officers were called to a fire at the Chase bank, which is situated at 930 Rosedale Avenue. When police arrived, they saw a fire in the building’s vestibule.
Garland Douglas, the 32-year-old suspect, was found to have started the fire after an inquiry. Douglas was outside the bank when police arrived.Subsequent examinations indicated that defendant Douglas was present in the vestibule at the time of the incident and was contributing fuel to it.
Without any problems, the defendant was taken into police custody. No injuries were recorded. Douglas possessed a crack pipe with a white, powdery substance inside that was thought to be cocaine and a syringe with a brown substance on it that was thought to be heroin.
Defendant Garland Douglas is accused of two charges of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree arson. On Sunday, February 18, 2024, he will be charged in Hempstead’s First District court.
