Mocobizscene- Authorities announced on Sunday that the three-day manhunt for an escaped 17-year-old inmate, who was held on attempted murder charges in Louisiana, has come to an end. What makes this case unique is that the teenager was turned in by his own parents. They made the decision to cooperate with law enforcement and ensure their child’s return to custody. This turn of events highlights the importance of parental involvement and responsibility in the criminal justice system.
Kimmy Dauntain Jr., a resident of Orleans Parish, managed to flee from the custody of state officials during a supervised outing on Friday in Franklin, Louisiana, as reported by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office.
According to a news release from the Office of Juvenile Justice, the parents of the escapee surrendered him to Louisiana State Police custody on Sunday morning.
According to the sheriff’s office, the teenager was detained on several charges, including simple battery, illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile, attempted first-degree murder, and attempted second-degree murder (accessory after the fact).
In the past few weeks, there have been instances of inmates escaping police custody in Pennsylvania and Arkansas, only to be captured shortly after. This trend of evasion continues with the latest incident.
Noah Roush, 22, and Jatonia Bryant, 23, were found to be missing 36 hours after they escaped from the Dub Brassell Adult Detention Center in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, on January 22, as reported by CNN earlier.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Roush, who is a homicide suspect and was being held on probable cause for residential burglary and theft of property, was apprehended three days after he and Bryant escaped from the jail.
Authorities said that on January 29, they captured Bryant, who was being held on probable cause for capital murder. This marked the end of a dayslong manhunt that had started due to failed head counts by the jail staff.
Shane Pryor, the 17-year-old suspect in a 2020 killing who managed to escape from custody during a medical transport on January 24, has been apprehended on a bus in Philadelphia, as confirmed by Philadelphia police and the United States Marshals Service. According to previous reports, Pryor managed to escape while being transported to a hospital for treatment of a hand injury.
On January 26, authorities arrested an 18-year-old who is believed to have aided in Pryor’s escape.
