Los Angeles Family Shares Their Grief Following The Fatal Shooting Of Father Of 4

A heartbreaking incident occurred last week in South Los Angeles, where a 32-year-old man, who was a loving father to four young children, lost his life in a fatal shooting while sitting in his vehicle at a gas station. The family of the victim is now sharing their grief and demanding justice for this tragic loss.

The Los Angeles Police Department reported that the shooting occurred at approximately 11 p.m. in the Vermont Knolls neighborhood, specifically on the 8500 Block of South Hoover Street.

Marquette Scott Jr., the victim, was on his way home after shopping for presents for his four children when an act of senseless violence took his life. He had stopped at a gas station to refuel when he was tragically shot, leaving his family in a state of devastation.

“I simply want them to understand that he was an incredible father, an exceptional son, an amazing brother, a cherished cousin, and an outstanding individual,” expressed the victim’s mother, Melanie Gammage, during her conversation with KTLA’s Rachel Menitoff.

Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department declared the 32-year-old deceased at the location.

“It has had a significant impact on our lives,” Gammage expressed. “It is truly shocking to no longer hear my son’s voice or see his face. I have never gone a single day without speaking to my son.”

The LAPD currently has no information about the suspects responsible for the deadly shooting or the car they used. Scott Jr.’s family has not seen the video evidence yet, but Gammage has a message for those accountable for her son’s death.

“I urge all of you to surrender yourselves, as you have taken away someone who was incredibly dear to me, someone I brought into this world,” she pleaded.

KTLA has contacted the police to inquire about any additional leads they may have obtained during the investigation. They have also requested a copy of the surveillance footage. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to assist Scott Jr.’s family in covering the expenses of the funeral.
