Mocobizscene- Two men were killed in a devastating accident on Sunday evening in Long Beach when their SUV collided with a bridge support and fell into the Los Cerritos Channel. The Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) and other emergency units swiftly arrived at the scene of the tragic incident, responding to the distressing situation at approximately 6:22 p.m., according to officials.
According to a press release from the LBPD, the initial inquiry indicates that the driver of a 2004 GMC Yukon was recklessly weaving through traffic on Studebaker Road before losing control. As a result, the vehicle collided with the bridge, caught fire, and ultimately sank in the channel. The Long Beach Fire Department divers successfully rescued the driver, who unfortunately succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. Meanwhile, the passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators are examining speed, reckless driving, and the possibility of impaired driving as potential factors that contributed to the accident.
The LBPD is actively encouraging witnesses to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
