Arrest made in Midlands involving gang member linked to drug-related offenses

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (mocobiz) – A 35-year-old man named Brandan Lamont Richardson has been convicted by a jury in Lexington County, South Carolina on January 11 for multiple drug-related charges. This information was provided by the Eleventh Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

According to officials, Richardson faces charges of trafficking more than 100 grams of methamphetamine, as well as possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl and crack cocaine.

In February 2023, the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services agents arrived at the Masters Inn in Cayce with the intention of locating a wanted individual.

To their surprise, they encountered Richardson instead. The agents promptly reached out to the Lexington County Multi-Agency Narcotics Enforcement Team, who swiftly responded to the situation, according to court officials.

During the search of Richardson’s room, law enforcement discovered a significant quantity of illicit substances. Over 100 grams of meth, 16 grams of fentanyl, and crack cocaine were cleverly concealed within a bag of dog food.

Additionally, investigators came across drug paraphernalia, packaging materials, and a substantial sum of cash. These findings shed light on the extent of Richardson’s involvement in illicit activities.

During their investigation, the agents also analyzed Richardson’s phone and discovered text messages that provided evidence of his involvement in the distribution of meth and fentanyl in the local area.

According to the Solicitor’s Office, Richardson had previous convictions for drug distribution, unlawful child neglect, domestic violence, and robbery.

Circuit Court Judge Walton McLeod handed down a 25-year sentence to Richardson, who was then transferred to the South Carolina Department of Corrections (SCDC) on January 17th.
