The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) is reaching out to the public for assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a theft. Occurring at 2:30 p.m. on October 28, 2023, on the 3700 block of Iberville Street, the suspect was caught on camera and is believed to have stolen a patron’s purse from a local restaurant. NOPD is hoping someone recognizes the individual pictured in the released image and comes forward with information.
As the victim stood outside the restaurant, her purse was within arm’s reach when a thief acted swiftly and grabbed it. The suspect made a quick escape, leaving the victim in distress. The incident was captured on camera which showed a small Silver Hyundai sedan being used as the getaway car.
According to reports, the car of the suspect was spotted heading west on Telemachus Street towards Canal Street. It was observed that there were two people in the car, indicating the involvement of multiple individuals in the crime. The New Orleans Police Department has shared specific information about the car, including a silver hubcap on the front passenger side, a large dent on the rear driver side, and missing window trim on the driver side rear door.
