Mocobizscene- The Laurel Police Department reported the apprehension of a man on Sunday morning after he barricaded himself inside his residence in Prince George’s County, Maryland (DC News Now).
At around 12:50 a.m, police officers were alerted about a stolen vehicle in the vicinity of the 14600 block of Philip Court. Upon arrival, the officers observed a suspect exiting the stolen car. However, when they attempted to apprehend him, he quickly fled and took refuge inside his residence.
The individual involved in the incident has been identified as Jason Nathaniel Marks, a 40-year-old resident of Laurel. It has been determined that he had four active warrants for his arrest, which included charges related to armed robbery, weapons offenses, and probation violations.
According to a post on Facebook by the police department, officers attempted to negotiate with him, but he refused to respond. As a result, residents from the building were evacuated and displaced for several hours while Laurel Police Officers persisted in their efforts to negotiate.
After some time, the authorities successfully convinced Marks to surrender without any violence, leading to his peaceful arrest and subsequent custody.
The suspect has been transported to the Department of Corrections where he will be facing multiple charges. These charges include possession of a controlled dangerous substance, motor vehicle theft, malicious destruction of property, and four outstanding warrants.
