Lancaster 3-Year-Old Boy Slashed, Investigation Underway

Mocobizscene- The tragic death of 3-year-old David Jacques Hernandez of Lancaster is the subject of an ongoing investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The small child’s neck was sliced earlier this week, leading to a homicide investigation, but he later died from his wounds.

A medical rescue alert sent authorities to the area late on Tuesday night in the 43400 block of 57th Street West, south of Avenue K. When deputies got there, they saw that the little victim had a serious cut on her neck. Hernandez was taken to the hospital, but the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner confirmed that Hernandez had passed away.

According to the Los Angeles Times, which cited anonymous sources, a family friend was asked to check on the youngster and found him with his throat cut in a bathtub. The mother of the child’s 39-year-old live-in boyfriend, Rena Naulls, was discovered at the home in critical condition. Naulls attempted suicide at home, according to sheriff’s officials, and is currently in stable condition at a hospital. He’s been listed as a person of interest in the current inquiry, but as of right now, no one has been taken into custody.

Three more children were in the house when the incident occurred, according to the sheriff’s office. The county Department of Children and Family Services has taken custody of these children, who are now 9 years old, 11 years old, and 14 years old, without any injuries.
