Identity of Decapitated Woman Found in Bag in Georgia With Hands, Feet Cut Off Found After 16 Years After She Vanished

Mocobizscene- The 24-year-old Nicole Alston vanished from sight after moving to the Atlanta region in the summer of 2006. Sixteen years after they were found inside a smouldering black bag in Georgia, the remains of a 24-year-old woman from New York City have been identified.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Troup County Sheriff’s Office identified Nicole Alston as the lady whose decapitated body was discovered early on December 6, 2007. Alston’s relatives verified she moved to the Atlanta region in the summer of 2006 and that she was never heard from again, according to information provided by the authorities.

When police discovered the still-smouldering black bag next to an intersection, they soon discovered it had some fragmented remains. The victim had no hands, no feet, and no head.

“At that point in the investigation, the remains were sent to the GBI Crime Lab to try and determine an identification,” according to the statement. “The only determination made was that it was an obvious homicide and the victim was an unidentified adult black female.”

For years, the case remained unsolved. Yet, “this case along with DNA was sent to Innovative Forensic Investigations” in Virginia and Gene by Gene Laboratories in Texas in the beginning of 2023.

Yesterday, investigators received word that a positive match was found on the remains following testing.

“Now that an identification on the victim has been made, our Criminal Investigators will continue to move forward with this homicide investigation,” according to the statement. “Our appreciation to Innovative Forensic Investigations, Gene by Gene Laboratories and the GBI for their assistance in this 16 year old case.”
