The Hospital Is Poised To Release A New York City Housemate Who Hammered Children In August

The two young children who were severely injured when their mother was fatally struck with a hammer by an unruly housemate who also harmed them are expected to be released from the hospital shortly, according to an optimistic update on the family’s GoFundMe page on Thanksgiving Day.

The horrific attack in August claimed the life of Zhou Zhou, 43, while her two vulnerable children, Sophia, 3, and David, 5, were forced to fight for survival.

Authorities claim that Liyong Ye, 47, assaulted them within their Sunset Park apartment. According to police, Ye and his 9-year-old son shared the modest three-bedroom apartment with the family.

A post on the bereaved family’s fundraising page precisely three months later informed supporters that they had obtained some encouraging information.

” Thanksgiving Greetings! I hope that all individuals are having a wonderful holiday season. “We are ecstatic to announce that on the 16th, Sophia and David underwent successful surgeries at Bellevue Hospital,” the post continued. We expect to discharge them the following week, as their recovery is proceeding favorably.
The imminent discharge from the hospital represents a significant improvement in the siblings’ condition, which Assistant District Attorney Tziyonah Langsam characterized as “likely to die” mere days prior to the heinous assault.

“They had sustained blunt head trauma,” stated Langsam.

However, the page’s administrators, the Parent Child Relationship Association, a non-profit organization, have stated that financial assistance is required “while the Liu family searches for a stable residence following their discharge.”
The post stated, “Temporary provisions will be established to ensure they have a stable foundation in the event that permanent residence is not readily obtained.”

“We would like to extend our sincere appreciation for your steadfast support during this arduous time. “Your magnanimity has had an enormous effect on the lives of Sophia and David.”

Zhou and her children were hurried to NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn following the heinous assault; there, it was determined that the mother of two had suffered fatal head trauma.

The Post at the time obtained distressing footage which showed officers escorting the injured children from the apartment on 52nd Street, in close proximity to Fifth Avenue.

According to neighbors, the children were “completely covered in blood, from head to toe.”
Ye, who is charged with murder and attempted murder, and his 9-year-old son shared a chamber in the family apartment. The deceased woman and her family occupied an alternative room, while a solitary tenant rented the third.

According to officials, in the weeks preceding the heinous assault, the alleged assailant lodged numerous complaints with the third roommate regarding the condition of the kitchen and restroom.

Ye, according to the prosecution, contacted his third roommate and requested that they pick up his son so he could execute his insane scheme. The unidentified housemate reported to police that when they returned home, they discovered a bloodied Ye holding a hammer over the three victims.

The walls and surfaces of the kitchen, which Ye had previously complained did not meet acceptable living standards, were covered in blood spatter.

The witness dialed 911, and Ye was apprehended by police as they apprehended him attempting to vacate the apartment complex.

Bloody in nature, the weapon was discovered during an examination of the unit.

“In the aftermath of the attack, NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell told reporters, ‘The incident I am about to describe is a heinous and senseless act of violence that claimed the life of a married mother of two.'” “I believe I speak for all New Yorkers when I say that our community is currently inundated with our deepest condolences for this family.”
