Community Members Unite To Combat Gun Violence Following The Tragic Shooting Death Of 15-Year-Old Javel Lawton

Mocobizscene- Dozens of community members in Canarsie gathered at the Bayview houses to protest against gun violence, standing just a few feet away from the location where 15-year-old Javel Lawton tragically lost his life in a shooting incident on Tuesday.

According to police, a 15-year-old was fatally shot outside Bay View Houses in Canarsie. The loss of Javel, who was fatally shot just a few feet from his childhood home, has devastated the community and anti-violence advocates.

City Council member Mercedes Narcisse expressed her familiarity with the individual who has been a regular attendee at Bayview Housing Christmas parties. She mentioned her personal connection to the family.

“Javel was not lost, he was murdered, let’s make that clear!” exclaimed Ms. “Today, we stand here as mothers who understand the pain that Miss Lawton is enduring,” stated Oresa Napper-Williams, the CEO and founder of Not Another Child.

Javel’s family has established the Javel Lawton Legacy Fund as a tribute to him, aiming to provide assistance to children who have been affected and influenced by the distress of gun violence. If you would like to contribute, you can click here to donate.
