FBI Agent Kidnapped By DC Youngster With Assault Charge

In late November, a 17-year-old boy was arrested by police in Washington, D.C. He has been charged with armed carjacking an FBI agent.

Devonta Lynch, a resident of southeast Washington, was taken into custody on Monday by the Metropolitan Police Department. He has been charged as an adult with armed carjacking, according to a press release. The Pentagon is not pleased with Tuberville’s decision to lift most holds on Department of Defense (DoD) nominees.

The individual with the firearm demanded the agent’s keys and phone before promptly settling into the driver’s seat of the agent’s vehicle. Simultaneously, another individual joined as a passenger. They swiftly departed the area in the FBI agent’s car but abandoned it approximately 15 minutes later. Law enforcement authorities successfully retrieved both the Malibu and the phone within half an hour from the incident’s location, which was less than a mile away.

When the agent returned her vehicle, she discovered there was missing ammunition.

Police were able to identify Lynch as the driver through surveillance videos. According to charging documents, detectives received an anonymous tip indicating that Lynch was one of the suspects. It was also revealed that Lynch had a court-ordered GPS monitor and was allegedly affiliated with the Area 71 gang. Upon further investigation, detectives discovered that Lynch had previously been charged with simple assault to an incident on November 9. Additionally, it was found that Lynch was a High Road Upper School student.

On Monday, police reported that an FBI SWAT team arrested Lynch. During the arrest, authorities found a handgun magazine and multiple rounds of FBI-issued ammunition in a closet at Lynch’s residence. However, the weapons believed to have been used in the carjacking incident were not recovered.

According to NBC Washington, Lynch’s suspension from high school occurred on the day of the carjacking and the day prior. Currently, he is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court on December 11th.

The investigation is still ongoing as authorities have yet to identify or apprehend the second suspect. Both the Metropolitan Police Department and the FBI are working together to offer a joint reward of up to $20,000. This reward is available to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individuals responsible for committing this crime.
