Mocobizscene- New Orleans District Attorney Jason Williams has recently announced an exciting new collaboration aimed at combating crime in the city.
The District Attorney has decided to reintegrate a seasoned police officer into the team, fostering collaboration between law enforcement and the community.
“I decided to wear my Christmas tie today,” Williams excitedly shared with reporters. “It’s like unwrapping a special Christmas gift.” Former NOPD Chief Michael Harrison was reintroduced by the D.A. at a news conference today.
According to Williams, finding individuals who are both trained and experienced in handling our most challenging cases and situations is a difficult task.
Harrison has recently joined the Williams office in the role of law enforcement affairs liaison and community engagement advisor.
“We can make a difference in reducing crime,” Harrison emphasized. “Being involved in combating crime in New Orleans is a tremendous privilege for me.”According to the former Superintendent of Police in New Orleans, he and his team are adept at identifying both the issues and the remedies necessary in combating criminal activities within the city.
“How can we examine the correlation between individuals and locations, where the arrangement of the environment contributes to criminal activities?”
According to Harrison, the key to effectively addressing crime in the city is to have a deep understanding of what is happening and to be able to anticipate it. By doing so, law enforcement can not only react to criminal activities, but also take proactive measures to prevent them. Crime levels in New Orleans were historically low when Harrison left in 2019. However, in the years that followed, crime rates skyrocketed.
