Over the weekend, a 71-year-old train commuter in Upper Manhattan was forcibly robbed by a man and a woman while the victim was retrieving a phone he had left on a seat, according to authorities.
Video of the two individuals wanted in the heist at the Inwood–207th Street station on Saturday night was made public by the NYPD on Tuesday.
The victim went back to recover his phone after realizing it had fallen out of the train at 11:30 p.m. as he was getting off an A train. According to authorities, he discovered the phone on a subway seat, but it appears that a man and woman had been observing the device.
Police said that he resisted their request to unlock his phone so they could enter and took it back.The two then threw him to the ground, grabbed the phone from him, and took off on a train, according to the police.
After being taken by emergency medical personnel to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem with facial injuries, the victim’s condition was described as stable.
