Mocobizscene- A man from Washington, D.C. has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for operating a drug trafficking operation involving fentanyl and cocaine. According to officials, this operation resulted in the deaths of two individuals.
Sheldon Marbley, a 44-year-old resident of Washington, D.C., admitted in his plea agreement that he was responsible for a minimum of 13 opioid overdoses in January 2022, resulting in two deaths.
Marbley operated his drug trafficking enterprise in the vicinity of First and O Streets, close to Nationals Park in Southwest D.C.
Nearly 14,000 fentanyl pills seized in major drug bust in Prince George’s County
Nine suspects have been arrested and charged by the police in connection with the discovery of almost 14,000 fentanyl pills and multiple firearms from an apartment in Prince George’s County.
In May 2023, Marbley confessed that he had sold fentanyl and cocaine to a 69-year-old and 72-year-old, resulting in their subsequent deaths. The transactions took place on January 28, 2022, as Marbley distributed the drugs from the driver’s seat of a Mazda sedan in Southwest.
On January 28, there were at least 13 opioid overdoses in the area that required a response from EMS and MPD officers, resulting in both fatal and non-fatal cases.
In his statement, U.S. Attorney Graves revealed that Marbley was fully aware of the repercussions of his actions and yet, he persisted in selling fentanyl to others. Shockingly, this continued even after causing fatal or near-fatal overdoses in more than a dozen individuals. Marbley’s illicit activities only came to a halt when he was finally apprehended on March 23, 2022.
“Graves accused Marbley of knowingly selling this harmful substance to others,” he stated. “By imposing a 20-year sentence, not only is a strong message being sent to other drug dealers, but it also marks the end of Marbley’s illicit career.”
