Disney has recently shared their plans to introduce their groundbreaking ‘Storyliving by Disney’ concept to North Carolina. They are aiming to construct a self-contained town called ‘Asteria’ on a sprawling 1,500-acre site. This remarkable community will provide a diverse range of housing options, including 4,000 single-family, multifamily, and mixed-use spaces, all within a fully enclosed environment designed for a seamless live-work-play experience.
Disney has partnered with Arizona’s DMB Development to transform Disney’s vision for Asteria into a reality. The development of this community is still in its early stages, with Disney Imagineers employing innovative storytelling techniques to carefully craft the blueprint. It is expected that home sales will commence by 2027.
According to Disney’s website, they chose the name Asteria as a way to pay homage to the enchanting night sky and its power to inspire us to contemplate the endless possibilities that life has to offer. They also mentioned that, much like the thriving Carolina Aster flower, this delightful community will perfectly harmonize with the stunning natural surroundings.
The community has been meticulously crafted to celebrate the wonders of nature and cultivate a spirit of lifelong learning. It features sprawling neighborhood parks, a clubhouse, a state-of-the-art wellness and recreation center, a delightful restaurant, a thriving community garden, and an extensive network of picturesque trails. Emphasizing the joys of outdoor living, residents can relish in refreshing swimming pools, vibrant outdoor areas, inviting fire pits, and a multitude of captivating events. Among these are enchanting Disney-themed family fun days, engaging workshops led by talented Disney artists, and captivating storytelling dinners inspired by beloved narratives.
Disney is expanding its ‘Storyliving by Disney’ project in the United States with a new community called Asteria. Located in North Carolina’s Chatham County, Asteria will be the second project of its kind following the Cotino community in Rancho Mirage, California.
