Arrangements made for funeral of 21-year-old who died in I-75 accident en route to graduation celebration

This week, family and friends will gather to honor and remember a 21-year-old driver and Kennesaw State student who tragically lost their life in a car accident.

Aimee Odom tragically lost her life on Sunday when her car became involved in a chain-reaction crash on Interstate 75. The devastating incident also claimed the lives of four members of a Bartow County family.

The family of Odom will be hosting a visitation on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. as well as a memorial service for her on Friday at 11 a.m. These events will be taking place at the Owen Funeral Home in Cartersville.

The family kindly requests that attendees wear pink, Aimee’s beloved color, and instead of flowers, make a donation to the Georgia Innocence Project. Additionally, a live stream of the service will be accessible on the funeral home’s website.

According to friends, Odom was headed to a graduation party at another friend’s house but unfortunately, she never arrived.

“We left our house and went to find her, driving up on the accident,” her friend recalled, describing the moment when her husband, daughter, and herself arrived at the scene.

Odom’s friends and family express their continued disbelief.

According to a close friend, Aimee is an amazing individual. Known for her kind-hearted nature, outgoing personality, and selflessness, she has made a significant impact on our community. The news of her departure is undoubtedly a loss for all of us.

Growing up in Cartersville, Odom had a well-rounded high school experience. She actively participated in various activities, including golf, track, and serving on the yearbook committee. As she approached higher education, the 21-year-old made the decision to pursue a degree in UX design at Kennesaw State University.

In addition, she gained experience working at the Tellus Science Museum and a local golf club.

In her obituary, her family wrote that she had a deep passion for being active and took great pleasure in engaging in various outdoor activities such as golf, hiking, snow skiing, fishing, and horseback riding.

According to Odom’s family, he had a deep passion for discovering new experiences and connecting with unfamiliar faces.

Aimee held the people in her life dear, regardless of their age. She thrived in the company of others, whether it was a small gathering or a large group. Aimee cherished her place within the tight-knit Cartersville community, where she formed deep connections. To her, the people she knew were like family, and she embraced her role in multiple families.

Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.
