Mocobizscene-A bill recently presented by Rep. Jared Huffman and Rep. Mike Thompson seeks to rename a stunning trail in Humboldt County in honour of the late California Senator Dianne Feinstein.
The Elk River Trail in the Headwaters Forest Reserve may soon be renamed in honour of Senator Dianne Feinstein, California’s first female U.S. Senator. The proposed legislation, the Senator Dianne Feinstein Memorial Trail Act, seeks to pay tribute to Feinstein’s remarkable legacy. Having served nearly six terms in Congress, Feinstein’s contributions to the state and the nation are widely recognized. Her recent passing at 90 has spurred efforts to commemorate her achievements with this trail renaming.
Thompson praised Feinstein’s commitment to preserving California’s natural treasures, including Lake Tahoe, Joshua Tree National Park, Death Valley Park, and the Headwaters Forest Reserve. He acknowledged her unwavering advocacy for safeguarding the state’s beauty, emphasizing that this bill is a testament to her exceptional efforts in ensuring that future generations can enjoy these stunning landscapes.
In brokering the 1999 deal, Feinstein played a crucial role in the U.S. government acquiring 7,472 acres of pristine redwood forest. This acquisition was made from the Pacific Lumber Co., which at the time was owned by the Maxxam Corp.
