Residents in New Orleans can avail financial assistance for their overdue utility bills during the city’s last outreach events of the year, scheduled for later this week.
Residents with outstanding balances and not previously received assistance are encouraged to participate in the city’s utility assistance events on Wednesday and Thursday. During these events, city employees will be present to examine bills and applications for financial aid. Moreover, Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans employees and translators will be available to assist attendees.
City officials announced that payments to utility providers will be expedited, with funds being transferred directly to the providers.
When and where to apply?
Residents who have applied for assistance but have not yet received it are encouraged to attend the city’s events on December 13th and 14th, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Joe Brown Park Recreational Center located at 5601 Read Boulevard.
To participate in the event, residents have the opportunity to conveniently complete an online application in advance.
What to bring?
To complete the application process, candidates are required to submit the following documents:

- A form of identification
- Proof of address and/or current lease
- Proof of current total household income
- Documentation evidencing the past due utility bill or bills
The city will also require the utility account number or numbers to make delinquent payments on each account.
