Arrest Made in D.C. After Racially Motivated Assault Leads to Aggravated Charges

Mocobizscene- The Second District of the D.C. Metro Police Department has made an arrest in connection with an aggravated assault incident that occurred in the 3300 block of M Street in Northwest, D.C.

On Friday, January 19th, an employee at a local business got into a heated argument with the suspect, leading to a physical assault and racially insensitive remarks from the perpetrator. After the incident, the victim received immediate medical attention from DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to treat their non-life-threatening injuries.

A 59-year-old man named George Sommers, who does not have a permanent address, was arrested on Saturday. He is facing charges of aggravated assault. The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating the assault as a potential hate crime or bias-motivated incident. It should be noted that this designation may change as more information is gathered during the ongoing investigation.
