Abandoned church in Miami catches fire

Mocobizscene- Authorities in Miami are currently investigating the cause of a fire that broke out at an abandoned church early Thursday morning.

The fire at Good News Little River Church, located at 495 NW 79th St, was reported at 2:50 a.m, as confirmed by Lt. Pete Sanchez from the City of Miami Department of Fire-Rescue. Crews arrived at the scene to find an abandoned church, with thick smoke pouring out of the windows. According to Sanchez, the incident was swiftly escalated to a Code 1 working fire, prompting the dispatch of more resources.

Sanchez stated that the firefighters bravely entered the church to extinguish the fire while also conducting a thorough search for any potential victims. According to him, they did not find anyone inside the building.

Sanchez explained that they encountered difficulties because the floors were compromised and there was limited roof access. However, they managed to contain the fire within the church and prevent it from spreading to the attached school.

Sanchez reported that they were able to bring the fire under control in just 45 minutes. According to him, two firefighters were assessed at the scene due to heat exhaustion. The authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
