Hailey Stephens, 17, died in the crossfire after a fight broke out at the party, police said
A tragic incident occurred at a house party in Arizona last weekend, where a 17-year-old cheerleader lost her life due to a fatal gunshot. The police have taken nine teenagers into custody in relation to her untimely death.
Hailey Stephens, a young woman, was tragically shot in the head at a house party in Casa Grande, Arizona. The incident occurred late last Sunday, leaving the community in shock. Casa Grande is situated approximately 54 miles south of Phoenix. The police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking event.
A dispute among the participants escalated, resulting in gunfire.
Police responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 1:30 in the morning on November 26. Upon arrival, they discovered two girls, including Stephens, who had sustained gunshot wounds. The second girl, also 17 years old, was shot in the arm and received medical treatment.
Tragically, Stephens was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition and, devastatingly, passed away shortly thereafter.
The Casa Grande Police Department has made significant progress in the investigation of Stephens’ death, apprehending a total of nine teenagers believed to be connected to the incident.
In a statement shared on Facebook, the department announced that they had made two more arrests on Saturday morning. The police apprehended two male teenagers, aged 13 and 15, on charges of felony murder. With these latest arrests, the total number of individuals taken into custody has reached nine.
According to the police, three individuals, including two male minors and one 18-year-old, have been charged with murder. Additionally, four other male minors have received a criminal trespassing charge.
The identities of the minors who were arrested have not been disclosed by the police. However, the 18-year-old has been identified as Jesiah Street.
The investigation is still ongoing.
The Local 3752 Professional Firefighters of Casa Grande initiated a GoFundMe campaign to assist with the medical bills and funeral costs for the Stephens family. Remarkably, the campaign has already garnered over $74,000 in donations.
“Hailey was an active student that excelled academically and in extracurricular activities,” the GoFundMe post says. “She was truly loved by her family and friends.”
