An angry driver shot into a family’s car on their way to the store in Los Angeles last week, killing a 4-year-old boy inside, police say.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office said the event took place in the city of Lancaster around 7:30 p.m. on Friday. It happened near Sierra Highway and East Avenue J. The suspect car cut them off and then started following them through city streets.
Police say that when the victim driver finally slowed down, the suspects pulled up next to their car and started shooting. The boy was shot in the upper torso while sitting in the back seat, according to cops.
The boy was rushed to the hospital by his parents, who were not hurt. Doctors declared him dead there.
The police found the suspect car in the area and arrested Byron Burkhart, 29, and Alexandria Gentile, 27. They are being held at the Los Angeles County Jail on suspicion of murder, but official charges have not yet been brought. Investigators still don’t know who shot the person.
