In Michigan, seven of the fifteen alleged phony electors are in court today for their motion hearing and preliminary interrogations. They are charged with attempting to rig the 2020 presidential election so that Donald Trump, the outgoing president, wins.
State Republican Party officials, a township clerk, and a mayor are among the accused. Sixteen Republicans were prosecuted in total, although one had his charges withdrawn as part of an agreement with the prosecution. Despite President Joe Biden’s victory, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel asserts that the defendants deliberately submitted fake certificates and verified they were valid electors.
Forgery and conspiracy to commit forgery are two of the eight criminal counts that each defendant must contend with. Evidence will be given in court to transfer the cases to circuit court, if the proceedings progress as planned. There will be further electors in court at the end of January. On December 13, the accused are scheduled to appear in court at 8:30 a.m.
