White Alabama Boaters F-Around And Jump A Black Man; Immediately Discovered

It’s time to put the myth that Black people don’t stick together to bed, and a viral video clip of a brawl that broke out at a dock in Montgomery, Alabama, proves just that.

The incident started with a Black man simply doing his job as a security guard but ended with several men being arrested and a scene that resembled a WWE match.

The fight involved the swinging of folding chairs and even people not originally involved in the altercation jumping in. One man even swam across the river to join in the fight.

The end result was clear: Black people showed that they wouldn’t stand by and watch another member of their community get attacked by a group of drunken white men just for the sake of it. This won’t happen on the Lord’s Sunday in 2023, or in the name of Malcom, Martin, or Madame C.J. Walker. It’s just not acceptable.

There are different accounts of how the fight started. Still, the best available reporting from local news sources suggests that the unidentified Black security guard asked a group of white boaters to move a pontoon they had docked to allow a riverboat full of people to dock.

Instead of complying, the white boaters refused, not realizing that the crowd had a lot more support for the Black security guard. The video shows what happened next.

Let me start by saying that here at The Root, we do not condone violence as a means of resolving conflicts.

We firmly believe that physical altercations should not be the go-to solution, except of course if you are a professional boxer like Bud Crawford. In that case, it’s pretty much always the answer. We also do not promote instigating fights that are not originally yours or resorting to public brawls like Bill Goldberg with his steel chair.

However, we do believe in the concept of consequences and the notion of “playing with fire”, as seen in the recent events that took place in Alabama. Sometimes, people have to learn the hard way by experiencing the consequences of their actions.
