Alabama issued a fish notice advising people not to eat fish caught in area rivers and lakes

The Alabama State Health Department advises against eating fish caught in areas of rivers and lakes or limiting your consumption.

Mercury levels are greater than typical, according to advice issued by the Departments of Public Health and Environmental Management.

According to an annual cautionary report, some harmful substances have been identified in fish in some places.

The advisory is in effect until the end of the year.
