A fight breaks out at Montgomery’s Riverfront Park in Alabama, and several people are jailed.

Authorities reported that a fight broke out at Riverfront Park in Montgomery, Alabama, resulting in several people being taken into custody on Saturday night.

According to reports, a large group of people were involved in the altercation at the 200 block of Coosa Street in Montgomery. The incident appeared to be racially divided, as shown in a video that was shared on social media.

It has been reported that the altercation began due to a pontoon boat blocking the dock space needed to park a riverboat. The regular spot reserved for the Harriott II Riverboat was affected.

A short video posted on social media by Josh Moon of the Alabama Political Reporter showed several white individuals fighting a single Black man, who, according to Jasmine Williams of WSFA, is a dock worker.

Witnesses can be heard yelling in the background, but no distinct audio is audible. The altercation appears to have started with an argument between the Black man and one of the white men, with another white man then rushing and hitting him.

The Black man backs up and tosses his hat into the air before the fight ensues, with several white people attacking him.

During the incident captured on video, a witness on the riverboat could be heard repeatedly yelling, “Y’all help that brother!” to onlookers on the shore.

It seems that some people on the shore came to his defence, and the video shows at least one brave black man jumping into the water from the riverboat. Another voice on the video can be heard yelling, “Get up there, young buck!” Once the swimmer managed to climb up onto the dock about a minute into the video, most of the altercation appeared to be over in the footage shot by Moon.

However, a separate video posted by Lauryn Lauren shows what happened after the Harriott II began to dock. A group of people approached the pontoon boat, and more fighting broke out. At least one person fell into the water from the dock.

The authorities arrived on the scene, and the police began taking people into custody. As of now, the names of the detained suspects have not been released by the authorities. MPD stated that charges against anyone involved in the fight are still pending.
