MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Luella Harrison, a resident of Gateway Drive in West Montgomery, has been requesting her neighbour to remove a dead tree for over two months.
The tree has been causing damage to her property, with its limbs falling in her yard. Despite her requests, the property owner has shown no concern or action towards the issue.
In addition, the tenants who were living in the house have also expressed their concerns about the tree. As a result of the falling limbs, Harrison and her husband have had to repair their fence multiple times, incurring significant costs. The 72-year-old woman has reached out to the city of Montgomery for assistance.
The Forestry Commission has also examined the tree and declared it dead. District Four Councilwoman Audrey Graham is working with the city to resolve the issue before the tree falls on a person or a home. She has been advocating for a solution to the problem to ensure the safety of Harrison and her family.
The city has sent a letter to the property owner, giving them a set number of days to remove the tree. If the owner fails to comply, the city council has the authority to issue an abatement order, allowing the city to remove the tree and charge the owner.
The safety of the community is a top priority for the city, and necessary measures will be taken to ensure the well-being of all residents.
