Three others hospitalized, toddler killed after apparent fentanyl exposure at a Bronx day care

According to police sources, the day-care center located in the Bronx, where one child tragically passed away and three others were hospitalized due to suspected fentanyl exposure, was allegedly being used as a cover for drug-related activities. The owner of the center was brought to court for questioning in connection with the incident. The severity of the situation is deeply concerning and underscores the need for increased vigilance in ensuring the safety and well-being of our children.

As Grei Mendez De Ventura, the owner of Divino Nino Daycare, was escorted out of the 52nd Precinct, she maintained a stoic expression. Her alleged accomplice, Caristo Acevedo Brito, 41, who resided in the basement where the daycare business was conducted, was also taken into custody. Reports suggest that the daycare was operating under the influence of drugs, thus raising concerns about the safety and well-being of the children in their care.

As he was escorted from the precinct, Brito kept his face hidden from the reporters. He wore a white baseball cap and kept his head down throughout the walk. The authorities put him in a separate NYPD car for the trip to the Bronx Criminal Court.

According to the authorities, Mendez was transported to Lincoln Hospital for a medical assessment and is currently in stable condition.

Outside the precinct, the suspects, who are facing charges including murder, remained tight-lipped and chose not to respond to questions from reporters.

The arraignment of both suspects is pending.

According to reports, murder, assault, and child endangerment charges were brought against the pair on Saturday in connection with the death of 1-year-old Nicholas Feliz Dominici, who is suspected to have been exposed to fentanyl. The tragic incident has left many devastated and saddened, as the young child lost his life due to the reckless actions of others. It is a heartbreaking reminder of how important it is to be vigilant and responsible when it comes to the safety and well-being of others, especially those who are most vulnerable.

Police reports indicate that three additional children, including two 2-year-old boys and the 8-month-old sister of one of the boys, are currently receiving medical treatment after being exposed to the lethal substance.

According to law-enforcement sources, the children were exposed to the drug when it was cut in the day-care center and some of it became airborne, which allowed them to inhale it.

According to sources, the police have initiated a hunt for Ventura’s spouse, who resided next door to her and is also a suspect in the death of the boy.

Police were called to the Kingsbridge child care center at around 3:30 p.m. on Friday in response to a 911 call. Upon arrival, they discovered three children who were unresponsive due to alleged exposure to fentanyl, as reported by the authorities.

Some of the children were given Narcan in an attempt to save their lives.

After being rushed to Montefiore Medical Center, Dominici was unfortunately pronounced dead. It was a tragic outcome that left those close to him in shock and disbelief.

The condition of the two-year-old boys is critical, whereas the eight-month-old girl is in stable condition.

According to reports, the other toddler was accompanied by an acquaintance to BronxCare Health Systems and is presently in stable condition.

Apart from being charged with depraved indifference murder, the duo is also confronted with several charges that include manslaughter, reckless endangerment of a child, assault, and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
