NYPD Busts Child Thieves, Cracking Down on Miniature Criminals Targeting NYC Bars and Restaurants

According to the NYPD, child thieves who were targeting bars and restaurants in New York have been caught and dismantled by the organized theft squad. PIX11 reported the incident.

According to Inspector Nicholas Fiore of the NYPD, children as young as 8-13 years old have been caught breaking into bars and restaurants and tampering with cash boxes. “They look like babies ranging in ages 8-13 who were going into bars or eateries and locking boxes,” he stated. The investigation suggests that this may be a family-related crime, with older brothers sending their younger siblings to do the dirty work of controlling the boxes for the past four months.

According to reports, a group of boys aged 11-13 were able to steal money and credit cards from multiple New York City bars and restaurants. Despite their young age and small stature, these alleged thieves were able to stack up piles of cash, estimated by police to be up to $10,000. It’s shocking to see such brazen behavior from such young individuals, and it highlights the importance of proper security measures for businesses.

According to Fiore, the family members were cognizant of the situation and made sure to not be at home during the late hours. The Administration for Child Services has been notified and is now involved. However, due to their young ages, neither of the boys will be arrested or charged. Only the teenager involved in the incident will face charges.

According to Jacob Rabinowitz, co-owner of one of the targeted bars, it is crucial to contact the police right away if you observe any suspicious activity.

After the media frenzy surrounding the case, the Mayor’s Office asked the NYPD to investigate whether the same group of children were also involved in another scheme targeting popular parks in Manhattan. However, it has been confirmed that the kids were not responsible for the park scam. This information was reported by PIX11 News, which you can read in more detail by clicking on the hyperlink.

Sergeant Matt Doherty reported that they have identified around 30 suspects so far.

According to investigators, the Organized Theft Task Force uncovered a money transfer app scam that primarily targeted college-aged women. The scam involved teenage basketball donors soliciting donations through teenagers, resulting in a haul of over $125,000 since April.

Sergeant Doherty once shared a story about a victim who went into a situation with only $2, but ended up having $2,600 stolen from her. The theft happened rapidly, with the perpetrators taking everything within just 30 seconds. This serves as a reminder that sharing personal information, such as phone numbers, can make individuals more susceptible to these types of thefts.

Several people have been victims of a solicitation scam, and the authorities have made multiple arrests in connection to this. According to a report by Pix11, child thieves have been targeting bars and restaurants in New York City. The report also states that the NYPD caught the culprits involved in the act.
