Prosecutors Report Two Fatalities in Newark’s Violent Night

According to Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé, a shooting on the 100 block of Dayton Street in Newark was reported to the police at 7:27 p.m. Upon arrival, authorities discovered Rahim Wynn, a 41-year-old Newark local, with gunshot wounds. He was immediately taken to University Hospital but unfortunately was pronounced dead several hours later.

According to Stephens and Fragé, police were called to the 700 block of South Orange Avenue at 10:04 p.m. in response to a shooting. Unfortunately, they found Kevin Brown, a 61-year-old resident of Newark, who had been shot. He was rushed to University Hospital but, tragically, was pronounced dead shortly after.

The investigations into the matter are currently in progress and ongoing. At present, no arrests have been made, as confirmed by Stephens and Fragé.
