Police sources report discovery of deceased family of four, including two children, in Upper West Side apartment

At approximately 3 p.m, authorities received a 911 call to conduct a wellness check on the fourth floor of 328 West 86th Street. Police were prompt in their response to the call.

In a heartbreaking discovery, a 3-year-old and 1-year-old child were found lifeless in their bedroom. Their mother, aged 40, was discovered in the hallway, while their father, aged 41, was found in another bedroom. The tragedy of losing an entire family is truly devastating.

The parents sustained neck injuries, while the 3-year-old boy suffered injuries to his torso, and the 1-year-old boy sustained injuries to his body. Emergency Medical Services quickly arrived at the scene, but unfortunately, all four victims were pronounced dead upon arrival.

According to sources from the police department, several knives were found at the location where the incident occurred. It was also reported that the injuries sustained by the victims were indicative of stab wounds.

Jeff Kimmel, a resident of the building, expressed his shock and fear towards the incident by saying, “I think it’s crazy. I think it’s scary. I couldn’t imagine when this happened and we were all shaking, the first thing we thought is who could have come into our building and do this?” His statement highlights the gravity of the situation and the impact it had on the residents.

According to Kimmel, he has called 328 West 86th Street his home for the past 22 years. He recounted the recent crime scene that occurred in the residence of the building’s superintendent. The superintendent lived in the home with his wife and two young sons.

The superintendent, who is 41 years old and was raised in the same apartment where his father served as the super, has recently informed the co-op board that he has found another job and will be leaving his current position.

According to insider reports, the superintendent’s father became worried when he didn’t receive a response after attempting to contact him through both his phone and knocking on his apartment door.

Assisted by a relative, he managed to create a peephole. It was during this time that he caught a glimpse of the mother of the children lying motionless on the floor of the hallway and immediately dialed 911.

According to Philip Caggiano, a neighbour who spoke with Eyewitness News, he has known the father, who is 41 years old, since he was a baby.

As he stood there, he couldn’t help but think how wonderful it would be to live on the same street as the joyous family. However, his thoughts were quickly followed by a rush of sadness. “It’s just heartbreaking,” he remarked, feeling the weight of the moment.
