According to sources in law enforcement, the individual sought in connection with the tragic death of a toddler due to fentanyl at a daycare in the Bronx has been apprehended. CBS New York reported on Tuesday that the suspect is now in custody.
According to insiders, Felix Herrera-Garcia, who happens to be the spouse of the owner of Divino Nino Day Care, was taken into custody while traveling on a bus in Mexico. He had been evading authorities since the tragic incident occurred over a week ago.
According to sources, the surveillance footage depicts him carrying shopping bags from the daycare and making his way out through a back alley, all while emergency crews were en route on September 15th. The grainy images seem to suggest that he was trying to flee the scene undetected.
According to prosecutors, Herrera-Garcia’s spouse contacted him before calling 911 to seek assistance for their children who were displaying symptoms of an overdose.
According to officials, a tragic incident occurred where a one-year-old boy named Nicholas Dominici lost his life and three other children fell ill due to exposure to fentanyl. The news is heart-wrenching and has left many in shock and disbelief. The authorities are investigating the matter to find out how such a deadly substance made its way into a daycare facility. It is a reminder that we need to be vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our loved ones.
According to federal authorities, a significant amount of drugs were being kept concealed under floorboards, playmats, and inside a closet, within the premises of the daycare center.
The first people to be arrested in connection with the toddler’s overdose death at a Bronx daycare center were Herrera-Garcia’s wife, Grei Mendez, and cousin, Carlisto Acevedo Brito. Renny Antonio Parra Paredes was arrested on Monday, following their arrests.
According to CBS New York sources, Herrera-Garcia’s recent arrest marks the fourth individual to be apprehended in relation to the case. The Drug Enforcement Administration and Mexican authorities reportedly collaborated to locate and capture him.
As of now, there is no information available regarding the charges he will be facing.
