Man accused of killing his Harlem roommate finally apprehended after 6 months

According to police reports on Thursday, the six-month-long search for a man from Harlem, who was accused of fatally shooting his roommate, finally came to an end with an arrest.

On Tuesday, Marquius Chappelle, aged 49, was arrested for the shooting that occurred on March 7th inside his apartment, which resulted in the death of his roommate, Ousmane Ag. The incident was reported in an article by NY Daily News, which can be accessed through this link.

In Harlem’s renowned Sugar Hill District, a tragic incident occurred on W. 152nd St. near Nicholas Ave. that resulted in the death of Ag, a 39-year-old individual who was shot three times during a confrontation inside an apartment at around 9:30 p.m.

Ag was quickly transported to Harlem Hospital by medical professionals, but unfortunately, their efforts were not enough to save him.

According to a spokesperson from the NYPD, Chappelle was quickly identified as the prime suspect in the murder case, leading to a warrant being issued for his arrest.

Chappelle was taken into custody by Manhattan Warrant officers on Tuesday and was charged with murder and weapons possession. Following his arraignment in a Manhattan Criminal Court on Wednesday, a judge ordered him to be held without bail. According to authorities, four shell casings were discovered on the ground.

According to a police source, witnesses in the neighborhood reported hearing a heated argument followed by a loud noise.

According to records, the individual in question has been arrested on five different occasions since 2006, with the most recent being for drug possession in 2022. Additionally, they were convicted of gun possession in 2011 and served three years in prison as a result.
