On Sunday morning, the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to a reported shooting, only to discover that no such incident had taken place. According to the authorities, the call turned out to be a false alarm.
CSPD reported that a shooting was in progress at around 10 A.M. on Sunday morning in the 4600 block of Newton Dr, prompting officers to respond immediately. Upon arrival, the homeowners were not present at the location where the shooting was said to have taken place. However, they returned while the officers were still on the scene.
According to CSPD, the shooting that was reported seems to be a case of swatting, and they are currently conducting an investigation on the matter.
If you are not familiar with the term, swatting is a type of prank call that involves calling emergency services and falsely reporting a dangerous situation at a specific address. This results in a large number of armed police officers being dispatched to the location.
The possibility of swatting is being investigated after a shooting call was made in Colorado Springs, as reported in the article titled “Shooting call in Colorado Springs being investigated as potential swatting” found on KRDO’s website.
