A state corrections officer, who is no longer employed, found herself in custody earlier this week in Montgomery, Alabama.
According to the Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC), Laquetta Harris, a security guard, was apprehended and accused of abusing her position for personal gain. Harris subsequently resigned from her position and surrendered herself to the Montgomery County Detention Facility. She was able to post bail and was released from custody later on.
According to court documents, Harris, who was employed as a corrections officer at Kilby Correctional Facility, received a Cash App payment of $1,000 from an inmate in May. The deposition did not specify the purpose of the payment.
According to ADOC, the investigation is still ongoing, and there is a possibility of additional charges being brought forward.
