Dale County woman scuffles with basketball player and shoots him 5 times: Charges

A woman from Midland City has been arrested by the police on charges of attempted murder. The charges are related to a dispute, during which the woman allegedly shot a man five times on Friday. The investigators are still looking into the matter to gather more information about the incident.

According to jail records, Micaela Newby, who is 37 years old, was booked into the Dale County Jail at 10:55 p.m. on that very same day.

According to sources from News4, there has been no official statement released by the Midland City police, but it has been reported that Newby was involved in a dispute with a man in his 30s who was playing basketball with children in a Kelly Avenue neighborhood. The altercation ended with Newby shooting the man.

According to sources, the victim has not been publicly identified, but fortunately, their wounds were not life-threatening. Additionally, there were no other reported injuries.

Newby is currently being detained without bond and is awaiting an initial court appearance.
