An ex-con in New York City with over 200 arrests and active cases in four boroughs was free to lead cops on a chaotic stolen-car chase

According to The Post, a former convict who had been paroled and had over 200 prior arrests, along with several pending criminal cases in four boroughs, was able to evade the law once again. He allegedly led the police on a high-speed chase in a stolen car, resulting in two officers sustaining injuries.

According to sources, Joshua Padilla, who is currently 29 years old, was able to avoid incarceration despite facing over six criminal cases while on parole. This was after he had served three years in state prison due to a grand larceny conviction.

According to a source in law enforcement, the individual in question seems to be immune to the consequences of his actions. Despite being arrested, jailed, and even sent to prison, he seems to evade any serious punishment. This creates a significant challenge for those tasked with holding him accountable.

According to a recent post by the NYPD titled “Wanted & riding dirty,” a vehicle with stolen plates was spotted entering NYC and failed to stop for highway patrol.

The dedicated officers and detectives from @NYPD33Pct played a vital role in apprehending a notorious criminal with a long rap sheet of over 200 prior arrests and seven warrants. The criminal had stolen a getaway car but was unable to flee far before the law caught up to him. The NYPD’s efforts were instrumental in bringing this career criminal to justice.

Sources have revealed that Padilla was facing charges of robbery and grand larceny in Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx and Brooklyn at the time of his arrest.

According to sources, the ex-convict in question has a long history of legal troubles. He has been arrested a staggering 201 times, not including any sealed cases, since 2006. The charges against him have been diverse, ranging from forgery and grand larceny to robbery, burglary, and reckless endangerment.

According to sources, despite being released on parole in 2021, Padilla has not been deterred from his criminal ways. Back in 2017, he had pleaded guilty to grand larceny in a Manhattan case and was sentenced to three to six years in prison. Although he served his time, it appears that he has not learned from his past mistakes.

According to a police source, the individual in question has been known to engage in criminal activities such as stealing cars, committing robberies, and assaulting people. The source also revealed that the individual has even targeted banks.

According to the source, this person acts like a contemporary outlaw and operates as a revolving door without any consequences. The source also mentioned that he acts with impunity, further emphasizing his disregard for rules and regulations.

According to the criminal complaint filed against him, Padilla was recently caught driving a 2021 white Dodge Charger with stolen license plates on the Henry Hudson Parkway at around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

The authorities attempted to stop the Charger, which had been stolen from Staten Island on August 2. However, Padilla, the driver, crashed the car and fled the scene, abandoning his 23-year-old companion.

According to reports, Padilla’s wild escapades did not end there. He purportedly leaped off a 15-foot overpass and proceeded to steal a 2014 Dodge Caravan that was left running in the vicinity of West 155th Street and Riverside Park.

Police officers from the 33rd Precinct stationhouse in Manhattan arrested Joshua Padilla, 29, after the driving rampage.

According to the complaint, he purportedly crashed the van he had stolen into an NYPD patrol car, resulting in two police officers being injured. He then fled on foot but was eventually apprehended. The Mount Sinai Morningside treated the cops for minor injuries.

After sustaining a minor leg injury, Padilla was transported to Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Following the incident, he was charged with two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and four counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

During his arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court, the prosecution requested a bail amounting to $35,000 for Padilla. However, the judge opted to impose a $25,000 bail in cash or $50,000 bond instead.

According to records, Padilla is currently being held at Rikers Island in connection with a Manhattan case. Additionally, he has an unresolved grand larceny charge in the borough from March 11.

According to the records, there are open robbery and grand larceny cases in the Bronx that he is associated with, which occurred during November and December of 2022.

In March, he was involved in incidents that led to charges of grand larceny and robbery in Queens.

Padilla had open robbery and grand larceny cases in Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx and Brooklyn when he was busted last week.

At the time of his arrest on Tuesday, he was facing charges for three cases in Brooklyn. These charges included robbery, burglary, and driving with expired plates. The incidents took place in November 2022, as well as January and February of this year.

The aforementioned cases have been dismissed.

The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office made a statement explaining that due to the unresponsiveness of the victims, these particular cases could not be pursued legally.

As of now, there is still an ongoing trespassing case against Padilla in Brooklyn.

Unfortunately, the lawyer assigned to his Manhattan case could not be reached for comment, and the attorney working on his Brooklyn cases declined to provide any statement.
