Buffalo NFL Player Mike Williams Passes Away Due to Severe Injury

Buffalo’s reputation as the City of Good Neighbors is well-deserved, and it’s not just because of the support that athletes receive from their fans during games. In fact, the community’s kindness and generosity often extend far beyond the bounds of the basketball court, hockey arena, or football field.

According to a recent post on Facebook, someone from our community has suffered significant injuries and might require our assistance.

Mike Williams, Ex-NFL Player from Buffalo, Sustains Severe Injuries in a Tragic Accident

Buffalo native Mike Williams attended Riverside High School and Syracuse University before being drafted in the 4th round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He quickly made a name for himself in the NFL and even became a finalist for the NFL Pepsi Rookie of the Year in 2010.

Williams has had an illustrious football career, having played for several teams, including the Buffalo Bills, the Kansas City Chiefs, and his current team, the Bucs. However, he left the league at the end of the 2016 season after having made significant contributions to the teams he played for.

Social media posts on Facebook and GoFundMe reveal that Williams sustained serious injuries in an accident while working in Tampa, where he resided. Reports suggest that a steel beam fell on him, causing severe head trauma, which eventually led doctors to place him in a medically induced coma. The accident occurred on September 1, 2023, and Williams remained in a coma until his unfortunate demise on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
