A Texas man has been charged in the Decatur robbery after a lengthy pursuit

A guy from Texas was caught and charged with first-degree robbery after being pursued by several law enforcement agencies in north Alabama, Decatur police said.

Jeffrey Lyndon Gladden, who lives in Aledo, Texas, was taken into custody, cops said. He is being held without bond in Morgan County Jail.

Police in Decatur said that Gladden was caught after a 39-minute chase on Sunday night. Falkville and Hartselle cops and the Morgan County sheriff’s office were all part of the chase.

The incident started when Decatur police were called to the Texaco Express on Sixth Avenue to investigate a robbery. As the police arrived, the suspect drove away in a white Jeep Wrangler, and a full description of the car was sent to all nearby police.

At 10:47 p.m., police saw the car going south on U.S. 31. After a traffic stop was called for, the suspect ran away, and the chase started. At 11:26 p.m., the car was pulled over, and the suspect was taken into custody.

The gas station clerk told police that the suspect asked for gas and threatened to use “an object that could cause serious physical injury.” The gas was given to the suspect by the clerk.

The agencies that are looking for the suspect are likely to bring more charges, Decatur police said.
