LaQuanta Riley, 19: Police Puzzle Over Mysterious 2003 Case of Missing Alabama Teen

LaQuanta Nachelle Riley, a brilliant student in high school, had a promising future ahead of her. She was awarded a full scholarship to pursue her passion for forensic science and criminal justice in college. LaQuanta was known for her diligence and was far from being a troublesome teenager who would wander off without informing her family. Hence, her sudden disappearance left her loved ones perplexed and deeply concerned.

LaQuanta came into this world when her mother, Pam, was still a teenager. Although LaQuanta’s aunt stepped in to raise her, Pam remained an integral part of her daughter’s life. Despite being just 19 years old, Pam had five younger siblings and was known for her lively spirit. Tragically, one of LaQuanta’s siblings passed away in the mid-1990s.

Leading Up To LaQuanta’s Disappearance

In 2003, LaQuanta Riley resided in Eufaula, Alabama, with a roommate. However, during the Thanksgiving season, she made the decision to leave. On December 5, LaQuanta returned to the apartment to collect the rest of her belongings. Unfortunately, something happened that upset her. Feeling distressed, she reached out to her mother, hoping for a ride to Montgomery, Alabama, where her mother lived. Sadly, her mother was unable to accommodate her request at that time. Undeterred, LaQuanta continued to seek assistance and eventually found a place to stay with her aunt and cousin in Montgomery.

Around 11:30 p.m., two days later, LaQuanta left her house and entered a dark green four-door vehicle, which was either a Ford Taurus or Chevrolet Caprice. The vehicle transported her to Pam’s house, which was just three miles away. LaQuanta got out of the vehicle and met her brother at the door. Curious about the unfamiliar car, her brother inquired about the person inside. LaQuanta didn’t provide a name but mentioned that it was a friend she had met in the neighborhood. Leaving her purse and money behind, LaQuanta returned to the vehicle and hasn’t been seen since.

LaQuanta’s Mother Receives A Disturbing Call

Three days later, Pam reported her daughter missing to the police. She informed them about a mysterious voicemail message that she received. The message was unclear, but it featured a young woman’s voice, whom Pam believes was her daughter. The woman either said, “Leave me alone” or “Let me go home.” In the background, a man could be heard mentioning LaQuanta’s name before the call abruptly ended.

During the investigation, the authorities focused on the case of an apartment rented in Stone Mountain, Georgia using LaQuanta’s name. Taking matters into her own hands, Pam decided to pursue this lead and personally visited the apartment complex. There, she had a conversation with one of the residents who confirmed that LaQuanta had indeed lived in the same building.

The man stated that the teenager arrived at his apartment, seeking to use his phone, seemingly after having a disagreement with someone. Regrettably, the neighbor mentioned that LaQuanta had recently vacated the apartment, leaving her mother perplexed when she came seeking her.
