An Alabama man convicted of murder as a youth skips court on a rape accusation and is listed as a fugitive

A man from Alabama who was found guilty of murder when he was a juvenile did not show up in court on Monday to face a rape charge. As a result, a judge in Houston County has issued a warrant for his arrest and has now declared him a fugitive.

According to a report by WDHN, Ralph Coleman, a 22-year-old resident of Dothan, failed to appear in court before Judge Kevin Moulton in Houston County on Monday. Coleman, who has been convicted of murder and is also a suspect in a rape and robbery case, is currently on the run.

According to the network, Coleman, who was found guilty of a 2016 murder as a minor in Dothan, is accused of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman at a local motel in April 2022.

At the age of 21, Coleman was released from the murder charge.

According to reports, the man from Dothan evaded police when they attempted to apprehend him shortly after the sexual assault.

In May, he was apprehended in Florida and subsequently transferred to Houston County to face the allegations.

Authorities are requesting anyone with information regarding Coleman’s location to come forward and provide assistance.
