A woman from Columbus died in a head-on collision in Starkville

Brandon Lovelady, the public information officer for the Starkville Police Department, said that a crash on Highway 25 on Thursday killed a woman from Columbus.

SPD was called to a head-on accident on Highway 25 south of Highway 12 at 12:15 p.m. Lovelady said that a car going north on the southbound lane of Highway 25 hit a car going south. Both cars were taken to the hospital in Memphis by helicopter.

Lovelady said that the driver of the car going north in the southbound lane was 66-year-old Mary Ann Green of Columbus. She died on Friday from her wounds.

When The Dispatch contacted Lovelady, she had no information about the other driver’s condition.
