A Jackson County man was detained after police discovered him with meth and fentanyl.

Police found methamphetamine and fentanyl on a guy from Scottsboro, and he was arrested on drug charges.

The Scottsboro Police Department says that 43-year-old Ashley Wayne Kimbrell was charged with possession with the intent to sell a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.

Officers saw Kimbrell outside a home in the 4700 block of South Broad St in Scottsboro on Friday, according to the police.

Officers say that they knew Kimbrell had a warrant out for his arrest, so they went to the house and found Kimbrell inside.

Officers found a substance in the house that tested positive for methamphetamine and fentanyl. They also found controlled medicine for which Kimbrell did not have a valid prescription.

Police say that the combined weight of the methamphetamine and fentanyl was more than two grams but less than four grams. Because of this, he is being charged with possession with the intent to distribute, which is one of the charges that have already been stated.

Kimbrell was taken to the Jackson County Jail, and a $17,500 hold was put on him.
