In east Montgomery, a suspect has been apprehended in connection with a domestic disturbance that led to a significant police presence. According to reports, the situation has been resolved, and the suspect is now in custody. MPD received reports of a domestic disturbance in the 7900 block of Copperfield Drive on Saturday, shortly before noon. Upon arrival, they discovered a person barricaded inside a residence.
According to the Montgomery police, they have taken control of the situation, and the surrounding area is safe. Nonetheless, the residents of Copperfield Drive and Glencoe Court have been instructed to remain indoors until further notice, and outsiders have been advised to avoid the area.
At approximately 6:10 p.m., authorities confirmed the arrest of the barricaded suspect.
The suspect in the recent incident has been identified as Michael Butler, a 31-year-old resident of Montgomery. He has been charged with first degree burglary and domestic violence.
He was apprehended and placed in the Montgomery County Detention Facility with the help of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the U.S. Marshals. Law enforcement officials are currently investigating and no further information has been made available at this time.
